Okay, I gave away a rosary during the Advent season, and I'd like to give away another one during the Lenten season! This Easter will mark my one-year anniversary since joining the Church with my husband and our daughters! I plan on finishing up my conversion story and posting it sometime during Lent. For now, here are a few photos from last year, and at the bottom is the Rafflecopter thingy for the giveaway.

NOW FOR THE GIVEAWAY!!
I have designed this gorgeous amethyst opal and grey Czech glass rosary with a Sacred Heart of Jesus center and papal crucifix:
Tomorrow the contest will begin! This is my first time using Rafflecopter, so I hope I don't screw it up ;) The winner will be generated on Friday, April 11 (my birthday!) and hopefully that will give me enough time to get it in the mail to the winner in time for Easter! Good luck!
"Filled with the holy Spirit, Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert for forty days, to be tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were over he was hungry. The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread." Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'One does not live by bread alone.'" Then he took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a single instant. The devil said to him, "I shall give you all this power and their glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I may give it to whomever I wish. All this will be yours, if you worship me." Jesus said to him in reply, "It is written:
'You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him alone shall you serve.'"
Then he led him to Jerusalem, made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written:
'He wil command his angels concerning you, to guard you,'
and:
'With their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.'"
Jesus said to him in reply, "It also says, 'You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.'" When the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from him for a time."

Oh, I love seeing the pictures!! And the Rosary is gorgeous. <3
ReplyDeleteYay! Thank you, Twin!
DeleteYou're welcome, Twin!!
DeleteAmethyst is my birthstone! Not my favorite to wear, but I'd love to have some to hold and pray with :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful!
fail, didn't realize I actually had to answer a question.
Deletetradition growing up: at least one Friday Fish Fry as a family.
tradition now: errrrrrm, don't particularly have one. Next Easter I'll be married (EEP!) so remind us to start a family Lenten tradition ;)
Hooray for getting to start your own family traditions next year! We still don't really have one, but will probably develop as the girls get older!
DeleteGrowing up, our only Lenten tradition was giving something up... we'd do something individually, and then something together as a family. Now, in my own family, we don't really have any traditions established! We are not so great at traditions. But on Easter, I always bake delicious hot cross buns. :)
ReplyDeleteOoh that sounds delicious! I'm hoping our family will develop a tradition or two in the coming years!
DeleteWhat a beautiful rosary you made! My family didn't have too many traditions for Lent aside from having fish stix almost every Friday night for supper :) We would sometimes attend the Stations of the Cross too!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I wish I was a fan of fish...I'm slowly getting a taste for it! And yay for Stations of the Cross! We did that last year as RCIA people and plan to go once this season as well!
DeleteAh! So beautiful! <3 My family doesn't really have any Lenten traditions, since there are a lot of different denominations among us. The only one is giving something up, which everyone does individually. :) On Easter Vigil, though, my Dad always makes blueberry muffins. God bless you!
ReplyDeleteThank you dear! We are the only Catholics in our family, so I can imagine how hard a Lenten tradition might be among your family! God bless you as well xoxo
DeleteOne tradition that my family does are the sacrifice beans. Throughout Lent whenever you make a sacrifice or do something nice for someone you put some beans a jar. And the on Easter the beans will turn into jelly beans!
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome tradition! Thank you for sharing!
DeleteI LOVE this Rosary so much and know exactly who I will give it to, should I win.
ReplyDeleteThis year, Scott and I are trying to pray more together as a couple and show the girls that doing things to renew your body for preparation are in many ways the most important thing. We do *try* to give things up, but are more focused on renewal of mind, body and spirit for Easter. The girls really understood this concept, and loved it.
That is wonderful! I'm excited to teach my girls about Lent as they grow older!
DeleteOh, this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHmm, Lenten tradition... Well, a while back, my family started praying the Rosary every night during Lent, but that kind of carried on past Lent and we've been praying the Rosary as a family almost every night ever since.
A friend and I also started praying novenas during Lent a few years ago, and that kind of carried on past that Lenten season and we try to get together and pray a novena once a month now.
That is great! We attempt to pray the rosary as a family, but it's hard with the littles! Hopefully as my girls get older it'll be easier :) And novenas are always great!
DeleteMy wife and I spend some time each day to pray and give thanks. I also pray in the morning and evening using a different lenten book for the morning and evening.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! I'll have to pick up a book for next year :)
DeletePretty
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteWe have a couple of family Lenten traditions. We each try to give something up and to try and improve upon something. We also enjoy reading Lenten book of reflections (usually a different one each year).
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chance to win such a beautiful rosary.
Oh that's awesome! My husband didn't give up anything this year, but rather is reading the entire Catechism! I gave up fancy coffee...it's been hard!
DeleteFirst: I'd like to say that even though I found this blog because I was told about the contest, I will be following this blog because we both share a love for the faith, coffee, books, and family (to be clear: I am single. Nevertheless, I adore my family).
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, we didn't have a special lenten tradition other than attending masses at Holy Week, but I still loved going. :)
I'm glad you found my blog! It's not much, though ;)
DeleteI loved going to the Masses during Holy Week last year! We plan to do the same this year!
Stations of the Cross!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to go on my birthday this year!
DeleteRight now it is pretty much fish frys. I am looking to add more ideas as the kids grow :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a fish fry yet, but hope to some day! Also, yes on the adding ideas as the kids grow!
DeleteOur family makes a point of visiting a nearby parish's Friday Fish Fry once or twice during Lent. It's a great way to support surrounding parish communities and it's a huge community builder, as it's the only fish fry around for miles and miles. We run into our fellow parishioners, participate in things like the St. Joseph Table, and generally have a nice time as a family.
ReplyDeleteHappy 1 year anniversary!!
That's awesome! We haven't done a fish fry yet, but hope to soon! And thanks on the happy anniversary! I'm pretty sure I'll cry at the Vigil this year!
DeleteFor lent there isn't actually much we do. we try to give up things, we attend some of our parishes prayer services.
ReplyDeleteGiving up things can be hard. I'm struggling with the fancy coffee, here ;)
DeleteHey! We always ate fried eggas and rice with plantains on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteOoh! I'm not that fancy! We tend to stick with lots of soups. My husband is a huge fan of soups!
DeleteWe go to town on Shrove Tuesday. But I'm thinkin that I am going to go with ^^ Bego ^^ on this one. We also rock the fried eggs over rice with maduros (those are the sweet plantains), my husband prefers the tostones (savory) with chopped fresh garlic!
ReplyDeleteWe had pancakes this year on Shrove Tuesday! Now I want rice! Haha!!! Ooh garlic! Noms.
DeleteI've had a tradition of going to Stations of the Cross since college, then when I met my husband he started going with me. Since our kids are too young to understand it, the last 4 years we have made it a Friday date night each week and get a sitter.
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome! How old are your kids? We'll be going to Stations on my birthday, and possibly try to make it a date night with dinner afterward or something! Our daughters are definitely too young to understand, too, but maybe we can bring Hannah next year :)
DeleteWe fast from certain food items together. This year we have added a sacrifice bean jar (http://twoosplusmore.blogspot.com/2014/02/how-to-make-lenten-sacrifice-jar.html) for my boys as well as daily readings from Hello Risen Jesus.

ReplyDeleteHappy Coming Home Anniversary!!! I'm coming into the Church this Easter Vigil and I'm SO EXCITED!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! My favorite family tradition is we attend the Easter Vigil every year....young babies and all :)
ReplyDeleteWe go vegetarian for dinners during Lent. Because we eat so little meat already, just giving it up on Friday doesn't make sense for us!
